Professional background

I qualified in 1988 from St Bartholomew’s Hospital Medical College. After house jobs I was a demonstrator in anatomy at Cambridge University. I did postgraduate training in surgery in Bath, Oxford, Bristol and Exeter.

I was appointed registrar in ENT in 1996 to Royal Free/Barnet general hospitals. I went on to complete a six year rotation including a fellowship in otology and skull base surgery in Sydney, Australia. I was appointed as consultant at the RNTNEH in 2000.

I took over as director of the UCL/RNTNE cochlear implant programme 2005.  I have served on the council at the BCIG (British Cochlear Implant Group) from 2006-2010. I  am presently a council member of the British Society for Otology and the Royal Society of Medicine Otology Section.

I now practice exclusively ear surgery and have the largest stapedectomy practice in the UK.
