National Hospital for Neurology and Neurosurgery listed as one of the world’s best specialist hospitals

In an annual Newsweek release of the best specialist hospitals in the world, UCLH’s National Hospital for Neurology and Neurosurgery ranked first in the UK and third in the world for both neurology and neurosurgery specialist services.

UCLH Chief Executive, David Probert said: “To be represented as amongst the best in the world gives us a great sense of pride. It is a reflection of the incredible work that teams do in striving for the best possible care, experience and outcomes for our patients.”

Newsweek, in collaboration with global market research and consumer data company Statista, formed an expert panel of medical professionals and medical journalists to assess thousands of hospitals globally. To make its assessments, the panel used data from three sources:

1. Hospital recommendations provided by a survey of medical experts, including physicians, hospital managers, and health care professionals
2. Patient experience survey data
3. Medical performance metrics on hospitals
