Our occupational therapists are on hand to assess and treat your physical and cognitive function in daily life, which may include activities like washing and dressing, using a computer or mobile phone, returning to work, and/or fatigue management.

We work with people living with a range of neurological conditions, including

  • Stroke and acquired brain injuries

  • Parkinson’s disease and atypical Parkinsonian syndromes (e.g. MSA, PSP)

  • Multiple sclerosis (MS)

  • Post-neurosurgical patients (e.g. tumour resection)

  • Other progressive and complex neurological conditions

Our support focuses on activities of daily living and roles that are meaningful to you, such as:

  • Returning to work

  • Handwriting and typing skills

  • Driving (advice/support)

  • Cognitive and fatigue management

  • Cooking and self-care

We can advise you about equipment to aid your day-to-day living, adaptations to your home, and carer support. Our aim is to improve your independence and quality of life.

All our treatment programmes are personalised to help you to maximise your potential and return to independent living wherever possible.

As an inpatient, our team can support you in your early stages of recovery by helping to get you as independent as possible before your return home, whether that is washing, dressing, or safety at home.

Our outpatient service is available to support you if you have developed a wide range of communication or swallowing problems that are a direct result of a neurological diagnosis (MS, Parkinson’s disease, dementia, etc.).

We will work closely with you and your family to identify the most appropriate strategies for you to improve your functional communication and maximise your quality of life.

We can offer both in-person and virtual appointments, where appropriate.

Our occupational therapy outpatient services are also available to help to support you when you have longer-term goals.

You can tell us what you're struggling with—typing, handwriting, physical challenges with work—and we’ll help you find solutions.

We can also offer outpatient occupational therapy appointments to help you manage other neurological issues such as brain fog or fatigue.

You can meet with our team at The Private Consulting Rooms in Queen Square, or, where physical support is not required (for example, for consultations around strategies for managing brain fog or fatigue) we can offer virtual appointments if appropriate.

Depending on your goals, we offer

  • Hands-on rehabilitation (e.g., exercises for functional hand use)

  • Adaptive equipment and aids

  • Splinting and other physical supports

  • Fatigue management education

  • Cognitive coping strategies for everyday activities

Our team of highly specialist occupational therapists all have extensive training and experience in neurological conditions. Based at the National Hospital for Neurology and Neurosurgery, they can provide expert rehabilitation and provide tailored support for every patient’s needs and goals. They are experts in their field and provide neurological education in occupational therapy across England.
