UCLH is proud to reveal it has been shortlisted as Trust of the Year in this year’s Health Service Journal (HSJ) Awards. The HSJ Awards recognise outstanding contributions to healthcare.
The Trust of the Year nomination reflects an extremely positive year for UCLH, despite the ongoing challenges of Covid-19. Our #OneTeam approach has allowed us to continue to deliver for patients and support our staff, with specific achievements including:
UCLH has also been shortlisted under the digitising patient healthcare category for the INFORM_us Hub. The Hub is funded by UCLH Charity and is using real-time data to improve the care of patients being treated in critical care and to help staff learn and improve.
Commenting on the shortlisting, chief executive David Probert, said:
“Our staff always go above and beyond to care for patients and their families, even in the most challenging times that we have faced under the Covid pandemic.
“I am very proud that UCLH has been shortlisted by the HSJ judging panel in two categories, including Trust of the Year, for this year’s awards. We find ourselves listed amongst some other fantastic NHS organisations from across the country.
“As an organisation, UCLH is committed to delivering top quality patient care, excellent education and world class research. All of our staff can rightly be proud of receiving this recognition because their contribution has made this achievement possible.”
Dr Niall MacCallum, Clinical Lead at the UCLH Grafton Way Building Critical Care Unit and one of the INFORM_us project leads, said,
“We saw an unmet need to utilise the real-time data from the Trust’s new electronic health record (EPIC) to help us further improve operational performance and the care of patients currently in critical care. Traditionally, historical data is used which doesn’t benefit current patients. The INFORM_us Hub allows us to focus on real-time data, engaging and educating staff as they care for patients, identifying areas for improvement as they happen and automatically tracking performance data. We are delighted that our novel project has been recognised by being shortlisted for an HSJ award.”
HSJ editor Alastair McLellan, adds:
“On behalf of all my colleagues, it gives me great pleasure to congratulate UCLH on being shortlisted as a finalist in Trust of the Year and digitising patient healthcare categories. All of the applications represent the ‘very best of the NHS’ and often leave our esteemed panel of judges with an impossible choice!
“Year on year the number of entrants continue to rise which I find so encouraging and is testament to the effect that HSJ Awards can have on improved staff culture and morale.”
